Springs from night air.
Shape hides slice
of blurred star ceiling.
Owl's shade tears a way
through windshielded sky
and vanishes quick
as breath over dark cold trees;
yet a thought occurs:
perhaps that wasn't an owl
at all. Air Force base
squats close to highway,
Art Bell chats flying saucer
stories on speakers,
and I think I'll recall
something a little
more mysterious here.
