Lilith Does Career Day at the Local Day Care

by W. Gregory Stewart

    the stars provide no guidance
and a mirror is no more cage
    than convenience

    she will walk among them
she will choose one of them
    she will return to innocence

    but not tonight
    she has known life
    and she has learned

    something else in time

    she learns
    that she has known life
    but not tonight

    she will return to innocence
and then she will choose one
    to walk among them

    conveniently
the mirror is no more a cage
and frees her hand to guide a wayward star
